Nearly 3,000 Pre-School Through School Age Kids Surveyed to Create New KinderCare Summer Camp Weekly Themes That Blend the Fun of Summer Camp With Learning, Discovery and Adventure

Portland, OR – March 4, 2010 – Summer Camp enrollment at KinderCare® Learning Centers, www.kindercare.com/summercamp/, officially kicks off the summer season across the nation. Starting today parents can enroll their pre-K through school-age children in individual or a series of week-long camps that have been designed with kids in mind. After surveying nearly 3,000 children on what their idea of the perfect summer experience would be, KinderCare listened and developed 12 uniquely themed week-long summer camps that are kid approved and teacher built. Each program infuses the fun of traditional camp with learning, discovery and adventure. Featuring weekly camp themes such as Wild, Wild West, Splish, Splash! and Spectacular Sports, kids will immerse themselves into the themed week and will experience panning for gold like the ‘49ers, growing water crystals, making their own sports equipment and more. In addition, the KinderCare Summer Camp Program offers field trips, games, water play and many more exciting activities.

“The summer months provide a great time for children to explore and continue to learn beyond the regular school year,” said Courtney Ridgely, KinderCare District Manager. “Our kid-approved, teacher-tested summer camps provide the fun and adventure kids crave and parents can feel good about during this exciting time of year. Many of us cherish the memories of our own summer camp experiences. This is the chance for campers to make new friends, experience really fun and exciting activities and make their own long-lasting memories.”

This year’s camps begin in May and are organized into weekly themes that focus on a new and interactive topic each week including:

Wild, Wild West: This summer, take the Pony Express out West and join us for wild activities. Kids will saddle up for singing traditional western songs, making homemade butter and learning about wagon trains.
